50th anniversary haynes hall // postcard
Two postcards created in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Haynes Hall at Montana State University. Jack Ellis Haynes, the namesake of Haynes Hall, was nicknamed “Mr. Yellowstone” due to his prolific work in photographing and reproducing all things Yellowstone National Park (YNP). Through research at the MSU Library’s Special Collections, I learned that a large part of Haynes’s success was due to his inheritence of his father’s photographic work in YNP. He turned these negatives into profitable items like (his extremely popular) postcards. I created two different postcards, with the first honoring the idyllic nature of Haynes Photography. The second postcard takes on a more playful tone, celebrating the students and the creativity the building has come to house. These postcards were drawn in Procreate and refined in Adobe Photoshop.
